How do I request materials?  Books,  Articles, Chapters from Books, DVDs and CDs

Follow these directions to access the Interlibrary Loan Request forms.

From the Salmon Library's homepage, click on the Interlibrary Loan button found below the center frame or in the left column.  If you have not already logged into UAH's Single Sign-On page, you will be prompted for your Charger ID and password.

You must submit ONE form for EACH request; multiple items per form not allowed.

Required information for Interlibrary Loan requests:

  • Book Title
  • Book Author

  • Title (Journal, Book Chapter, Conference Proceeding, Anthology)
  • Year
  • Pages
  • Article Title

You will be notified via your UAH email when the materials arrives or if the material is not available.

How long does it take to receive a requested book?

Allow 10 to 15 working days for the arrival of requested books as these are shipped by U.S. mail, UPS, or FedEx. It may take longer depending on how many libraries own the title.

How long does it take to receive a requested article?

Some articles may arrive within 24 hours but others may take up to 7 to 10 working days. This depends on how many libraries own that particular journal title.

Prioritize Multiple Requests

Graduate students, faculty and staff:  If you place 10 or more requests at one time, please note a priority order for the requests with #1 as top priority, etc.  Sometimes lenders are limited by the types of items requested, and the ILL department attempts to place its requests in a balanced manner among the available lenders.

We Do Not Request Textbooks

We do not request textbooks for current classes.  The ILL loan period averages 28 days or less which is not long enough to be used for a semester class period.
