UAH user privileges
For all UAH users, your Charger Card (University ID) is your library card. It is required for all transactions at the User Services Desk. You'll need to know your Charger ID and A# to get logged into the library computers.
UAH Undergraduate Students – 25 books at a time, for 28 days at a time; 3 renewals
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
UAH Graduate Students – 50 books at a time, for 90 days at a time; 1 renewal
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
UAH Part-time or Temporary Faculty/Staff – 50 books at a time, for 90 days at a time; 1 renewal
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
UAH Faculty & Staff – 50 books at a time, for 1 year at a time, 1 renewal
No fines for overdue materials
Retired UAH Faculty & Staff – 5 books at a time, for 28 days at a time, 1 renewal
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
Non-UAH user privileges
Non-UAH users will be issued a guest library card and a password for the computers. Your library card and your Driver's License (or other photo ID) is required for all transactions at the User Services Desk. If you lose your library card, the replacement fee is $5.00.
Non-UAH Users – 5 books at a time for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal;
$75 privilege fee, 3 month expiration
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
PC-Use-Only – No book check-out allowed; access to Library PCs only;
$50 privilege fee, 3 month expiration
Local Ed – Local schools without existing contract
3 books at a time for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal;
$25 privilege fee, 3 month expiration
Calhoun Community College Students - 3 books at a time for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal;
$25 privilege fee, 1 year expiration
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
UAHuntsville Alumni - 5 books at a time for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal
$10 privilege fee (must present a current UAH Alumni Association membership card), 3 month expiration
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
Academy of Lifetime Learners (Continuing Ed) - 5 books at a time, for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal
$10 privilege fee (must be on the Lifetime Learners enrollment list), 3 month expiration
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
High School Users – 2 books at a time, for 14 days at a time; 1 renewal
No fee if your high school contacts us to schedule an orientation tour for the class.
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
Catholic High – 5 books at a time, for 28 days at a time; 1 renewal
No fee
$0.25 per day overdue fine; $25.00 maximum
What's my Charger ID?
Your Charger ID is the text listed to the left of the @ symbol in your UAH email address. Typically the format of your Charger ID consists of your three initials followed by a 4 digit sequence number (e.g., 0001). Your Charger ID is used to access everything but Banner (ANGEL, the UAHuntsville network, the Library, and more). If you don't know it, click on the links below to get help.

Please note that only CURRENT UAHuntsville students, faculty, and staff have the following privileges and these privileges cannot be purchased:
- Remote Access to the Library's Online products (including our databases)
- Access to the campus wireless network
- Access to the SciFinder Scholar database (Chemical Abstracts)
- Access to the Group Study Rooms
- Access to the Reserves collection
- Access to Interlibrary Loan
