MRQE.com – the Movie Review Query Engine, founded in 1993 by Stewart M. Clamen, is the Internet’s largest database of movie reviews for over 90,000 titles. The continually growing site provides a searchable index of all published and available reviews, news, interviews, and other materials associated with specific movies.
This is an Internet Website that is used to compile reviews for films shown at the Guntersville Free Friday Foreign Film program, which includes reviews from the following sources, among others:
The New York Times
Chicago Sun-Times (Roger Ebert)
The Wall Street Journal
Sight and Sound
Film Journal International
Please note that many of the reviews from this Website would not be appropriate as a source for a college-level research paper. When in doubt, please check with your professor.
If you really enjoy foreign films, you may want to check out the Free Friday Foreign Film series at the Guntersville Public Library in Guntersville, Alabama. They show a foreign film the second Friday of every month at 7 p.m. This series has been running since October 2001! Light refreshments are served and there is usually a discussion afterwards. Please call 256-571-7595 for questions about the series.
