When you go to our website at uah.edu/library, scroll down to the middle of the page, and you'll see a search bar labeled Search the Library. This is our Pathfinder Discovery Tool, which functions as a gateway to run a fairly comprehensive search across most of our 300+ databases, as well as a great way to discover what books are available via Salmon Library. In the screenshot below, the black bar indicates where you can run a Basic Search, and the arrow points toward an option to jump into our Advanced Search. Check out the video as well for a brief overview of using the Pathfinder Tool for discovering resources on mythology!

When searching, look for specific subject tags as well, often using a syntax such as: Mythology, Greek, or Mythology, Japanese. See the pattern? Sometime, you'll need to mix up keyword, or "conversational" language, versus controlled, or "subject" language. Unfortunately, it's not necessarily a "one size fits all" approach to this process. You might get different results with Japanese mythology in a "Basic" search vs. Mythology, Japanese in a "Subject" search, for example. One may yield way more results, but also be a bit messy, vs. a more efficient "subject" search to quickly get to a handful of books you know will be relevant to your query.
