History of Technology

The American Association for the History of Medicine (AAHM), founded in 1925, is a professional association of historians, physicians, nurses, archivists, curators, librarians, and others.

The British Society for the History of Science (BSHS) is the main organisation in the British Isles working to bring together people with an interest in the histories of science, technology and medicine and their changing relationship with society.

The IUHPS is one of 26 scientific unions belonging to the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU). As the world's leading non-governmental organization in the field of science, ICSU promotes congresses, publications, and other initiatives designed to facilitate international exchanges and understanding.

Established in 1981 it is the organization which represents academics and researchers in the fields of science and technology studies, the social analysis of innovation and related areas of knowledge.

The History of Science Society is the world's largest society dedicated to understanding science, technology, medicine, and their interactions with society in historical context.

The Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) focuses on sustainable development & humanitarian technology; ethics, human values and technology; technology benefits for all; future societal impact of technology advances protecting the planet & sustainable technology; as well as on social issues related to energy, information technology and telecommunications.

The main purpose of 4S is to bring together those interested in understanding science, technology, and medicine, including the way they develop and interact with their social contexts.

An interdisciplinary organization, SHOT is concerned not only with the history of technological devices and processes but also with technology in history— that is, the relationship of technology to politics, economics, science, the arts, and the organization of production, and with the role it plays in the differentiation of individuals in society.
