Article Requests

We will order articles that you request via the "Interlibrary Loan" button on the library's homepage and send them to you via your UAH email.  If you live within 30 miles of the UAH campus and the journal is available in print at the Salmon Library, you will need to come to the library and either read, scan or photocopy the article.

If you live more than 30 miles from the UAH campus, we will scan the article and deliver it to you via your UAH email.

Book Requests

If you live less than 30 miles from the UAH campus, you will need to come to the library to check out the books found in the Salmon Library collection.

If you live more than 30 miles from the UAH campus, we can check out books belonging to the Salmon Library and ship them to you via U.S. Postal Service.  You will be responsible for the cost of mailing the books back to the library by the due date.

We will not be able to borrow books for you from another library due to the time that it takes to send and receive the books from the lending library.  We recommend that you contact your nearest library to place an Interlibrary Loan.

How Long Does It Take?

Minimum time: 3-5 working days on average

Average time: 7-10 working days for books

Maximum time: 20 working days

You'll be notified by your UAH email when the items are ready for pickup.

Prioritize Multiple Requests

Graduate students, faculty and staff:  If you place 10 or more requests at one time, please note a priority order for the requests with #1 as top priority, etc.  Sometimes lenders are limited by the types of items requested, and the ILL department attempts to place its requests in a balanced manner among the available lenders.

We Do Not Request TextBooks

We do not request textbooks for current classes.  The ILL loan period averages 28 days or less which is not long enough to be used for a semester class period.
