Both undergraduate and graduate students can take part in hands-on research and creative projects at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Past projects such as research papers, computer programs, musical scores, art projects, works of fiction, poetry, and posters are located in UAH's Digital Repository. All these projects are readily accessible online.

Students enrolled in the Honors College have the opportunity to take part in research throughout their academic career. Research and creative projects are integral to preparing for a professional career or further study, no matter the field.
Students may do a thesis (extensive research) which culminates in a well written and thoroughly researched paper. Or, they may do a project which may be a computer program, musical score, poetry, work of fiction, art, etc. For more information please see the Honors Capstone Handbook website.

Research Horizons Day/Week is held annually during the Spring semester and it is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students from all colleges. In 2021 the event was held virtually.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville Summer Community of Scholars (SCS) is a single group made up of the Research and Creative Experience for Undergraduates (RCEU) and Honors Capstone Research (HCR) Summer Program. The purpose of the Summer Community of Scholars Program is to support research or creative work experiences for undergraduate participants in all fields of study.

The American Astronautical Society (AAS) in collaboration with UAH and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center host the annual Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium. Both undergraduate and graduate students design and create research projects for the Student Poster Competition.
