Fundamental information literacy skills, such as critical evaluation of document authority, credibility, and relevancy are necessary for all academic disciplines; however, more advanced courses eventually demand a familiarity with unique information needs and data formats. While basic research in undergraduate business administration courses may require consulting journals and even company financial data or industry profile reports, the MBA program puts an emphasis on refining skills in leadership, management, and more advanced research skills. At UAH, we have access to some great tools and resources to not only provide the information you seek, but also help in analyzing and organizing that data.
Whether exploring company financials, industry profiles, or diving into best practices in popular trade journals, our goal at Salmon Library is to offer an efficient research experience with our resources, but also to connect with you on an individual basis to develop unique search strategies for your project. The easiest way to start using Primo Pathfinder is to enter in a simple search in the search box. Then, use the left facets to narrow your search to items within the library, a particular time period, and there are many more options. Remember, Primo Pathfinder has millions of records, so narrowing your search as much as possible will help you find the most accurate results. Try using the Advanced search as well where you can put in multiple search terms and use Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT to help you find your research topic.
Once you see a book or article that is of interest to you, click on the book or article title to go into the complete record. There, you will see listed databases that you can select to take you to the item or the location of the physical book in the library.
If you are working on a complex research project, make a note of the names of some of the databases you see and visit our alphabetical list of databases to find even more books and articles that will help you.
