An overview of the services available to UAH students, faculty, and staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Social Distancing at the Library

When visiting the library, keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Maintain social distance (3'). 
  • Masks are required inside buildings [see Masking Policies, below].
  • UAH students, faculty, and staff need to swipe in using their Charger Card. Guests are allowed with sign-in.
  • The library will have reduced seating capacity. 
  • Consider using online resources and services when available.
  • If it all possible, please clean your space (study room, library computer, desk/tabletop, etc) after use. Wipes are available at User Services if you need them, as well as in other locations such as the first floor computer lab.

Masking Policies

Masking Policies

  • As of August 9, 2021, a facial covering is required indoors in all buildings on The University of Alabama in Huntsville Campus, including the M. Louis Salmon Library,  regardless of vaccination status. There is currently no set expiration on this policy.
  • This requirement applies to all Library patrons and in-building visitors & workers: students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  • This requirement applies to all public/shared spaces in the library, including (but not limited to) classrooms, study booths/carrells, study tables, and other portions of the library shared with other patrons. This includes study rooms when there is more than one person in the room at a time (students alone in an enclosed study room may unmask).
  • The campus-wide exception for eating-and-drinking does not apply to the Library because there will be no food-or-drink consumption in the library during this policy's period of enforcement.
  • Patrons who do not wear a mask, or wear a mask incorrectly (e.g., no covering mouth and nose), may be approached by a librarian or other appropriate authority figure and asked to wear one correctly.
  • Patrons who do not have a mask may be provided one by the User Services Desk if masks are available. 
  • Patrons who refuse to comply may be subject to appropriate disciplinary action. 
    • Patrons will be asked to leave the Library. 
    • Repeat offenses may result in the patron being barred from the library for all patron types: students, faculty, staff, and guests.
    • Students may be reported for misconduct through Charger 360.
    • Faculty and staff, including student workers, may be reported to their appropriate department.
    • Library guests, including patrons who have purchased a guest pass or are otherwise eligible for a guest account (e.g., alumni) may have their rights to enter the Library revoked for a period of time deemed suitable by the library director and other appropriate authorities despite prior receipt of guest accounts, paid or otherwise. In this case, there will be no refund for time remaining on the account.
  • Patrons who wish to seek a disability-related or health-related exception to this rule must register with Campus Disability Support Services and follow DSS's steps/suggestions as well as receive an official Letter of Accommodation from them.

This policy is subject to change at any time and all library patrons are responsible for following the current policy in place.

Requesting Books Online

You can request books online to be picked up at the User Services Desk. From Primo Pathfinder, first sign in, and then find the books you want. You will see a "request" option under "Get It". Use that to request the book.

It is vital that we strive for full vaccination throughout our campus community to continue to ensure the safety and health of everyone here at our University. Faculty, staff and students may visit the UAH Health Portal to schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination. To schedule an appointment for a household member age 12+, contact the UAH COVID Scheduling hotline at 256.824.2400. If you are not on campus, you can find a vaccine site near you at Although strongly encouraged, COVID vaccination is not a requirement for enrollment or employment at this time.
